Lionel Postwar Train Sets
When we think of model railroading one tends to think of a black steam locomotive or the sleek retro-modern Santa Fe F3 diesel classic. These trains have become iconic as a part of past American culture. They rose to prominence in the Lionel postwar era, often known as the Golden Era.
Many of the major strides for Lionel trains took place before the war with the introduction of it's modern steam locomotives starting in 1937. World War 2 soon interrupted Lionel model production though as materials that were crucial to the war effort were all diverted to that end.
After World War 2, Lionel resumed their model railroad innovations with a vengeance. Lionel postwar train sets picked up where they left off before the war, utilizing new high pressure die casting technology and the heightened detail it afforded.

In addition to the enhanced detail and realism of Postwar Lionel trains, soon gained other features like new remote control "knuckle" couplers, smoke, remote whistling, multiple powerful motors, magnetraction and more.
