Valuable Lionel Diesel Locomotives
Lionel as a company took their time when it came to making diesel locomotives. Some of the first diesels produced by the company before WW II were the M10000 and Zephyr models.
1948 marked the beginning of the Golden Post War era for Lionel and some big changes were in store. Lionel introduced it’s F3 diesel model locomotive, made in a joint arrangement with the makers of the actual real life locomotive, General Motors EMD, and also the Santa Fe and New York Central railroads. This diesel was a huge hit and launched Lionel model trains to iconic status as one of the most popular and coveted hobby items or toys.
